This fly is tied on a size 16 hook and imitates a Sedge pupa. The fly consists of an underbody of brown dubbing which is then covered with a Firefly pearl Scintillator bead, to give the correct pupa shape. There is a front winding of Ostrich herl behind the eye with one turn of natural partridge next to it. A strand of longer partridge is swept back to suggest the antenna. Use a floating line with a long leader and cast to fish that are moving just subsurface. Trout will take this fly as sedge just prior to hatching. The retrieve should be a very slow figure of eight with the occasional jerk. This fly is successful on both rivers and lakes from May to October.
